NEET quota counseling

To pursue a career in MBBS, a student must aim to succeed in NEET quota counselling or All India Quota (AIQ) counselling. These two are the best ways to grab a seat in a medical college of your preference.

If you aim to get a government medical college or a college of your choice, you must target AIQ rank. You compete with students from across India to secure a seat in your favoured college. Since only 15% of seats are available through AIQ, it becomes difficult to fight. If somehow you are unable to do so, don’t get discouraged. You still have a choice to get a seat. It is possible through state quota

Every medical college reserve 85% of seats for State quota counsellingIf you couldn’t make it through AIQ, state quota counselling is the alternative to grab a seat in a college of your choice. But it is valid only if you apply for counselling through your local state.

Apply for the reserved 85% and get a seat in your chosen college with logic and a planned strategy. Since you can apply for it online, let’s discover how to succeed in NEET quota counselling

The state quota counselling occurs in four crucial steps

  1. Registration: Before you register yourself for State counselling in your state or any other state, make sure you read the rules and regulations carefully. It is important; especially, for those who wish to apply for another state, apart from the home state. For instance, an aspirant from Delhi wants to apply in Rajasthan or Kerala, must read all rules and regulations before registering self for the state
  2. Document verification: As soon as you register, you will receive a date to submit all the required documents to a nearby verification centre. It also includes the submission of a refundable tuition fee. It may vary based on an individual’s category
  3. Choice filling: For the third stage, you must prepare in advance. While filling choices for the college, ensure that the arranged colleges are offering a seat to the range of your NEET Rank. Also, verify the fee structure mentioned. There are cases when the fee mentioned in the form varies from the one mentioned on the college’s website. It is because, colleges may include mess fees, development fees, exam fees, hostel fees, etc. which may create confusion. Therefore, prepare for such a situation and have a backup
  4. Allotment of seat: If you are eligible for a seat in the colleges you arranged, you will be allotted a seat. Also, you will be given a date and time to report at the college. In any situation you fail to report, the seat will be transferred to someone else. Even if you want to upgrade the seat, report to the college and submit the fee. Once you confirm the seat, you can apply for up-gradation

Upgradation of seat

If you have been allotted a seat in Round 1 and you wish to upgrade. First and foremost, check the eligibility criteria. If you are eligible for the same, you may apply for the up-gradation. The procedure to apply for the upgradation in state counselling is different from AIQ counselling. In AIQ counselling, you submit an up-gradation form.

Whereas, for neet quota counselling, you must submit the fee and apply for up-gradation which leads you to Round 2. If you get the seat, ask for a refund of the fee from the previous college. Then, submit the fee in the chosen medical college.
