The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Management and Science University (MSU) is a 5-year medical programme comprising of 2 phases; Basic Medical Sciences phase in the first 2 years, followed by Clinical Sciences phase in the final 3 years. Application of basic medical sciences knowledge for clinical training is started early in phase 1 with incorporation of Personal & Professional Development (PPD) and Early Clinical Exposures (ECE) teachings throughout the various courses. To enhance students’ learning experiences in the various aspects of healthcare services, our curriculum also gives students opportunity to do clinical electives overseas; basic research and the exciting collaborative learning with Pharmacy and other Allied-Health Sciences students in the Interprofessional Education (IPE) modules.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Diploma in Medical Sciences is a platform developed to provide students with a broad understanding of the fundamental areas of medical sciences.
The programme encompasses basic medical science, diagnostic laboratory components, and basic clinical skills. You will learn about the human anatomy, its
biological functions, and related diseases. The curriculum is delivered via a combination of traditional and contemporary teaching and learning methods, including lectures, small group projects, presentations and laboratory sessions. This combination will further enhance your learning experiences at MSU and prepare you for a career in medical sciences.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Management and  Science University is a five year medical programme offered at the main campus in Shah Alam and the offshore campus in Bangalore, India. This programme is delivered through three phases, namely Phase 1 (Year 1), Phase 2 (Year 2) and Phase 3 (Years 3, 4 & 5). Both Phases 1 and 2 are delivered through systembased modules. Phase 3 is conducted through discipline-based postings in:-

In the first and second year, your understanding of basic medical sciences is strengthened in preparation for the upcoming years. In year three, the focus is on developing basic clinical skills and knowledge. The fourth year is an introduction to the different specialties in medicine. Year five concentrates on consolidating clinical skills with knowledge.

Modules on Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence, Radiology and Community Medicine are delivered concurrently.

The MBBS curriculum is designed in adherence to the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) guidelines and approval; presenting a continually expanding level of medical experiences. In the early years of study, students are taught the basic medical sciences in contexts relevant to patient care. Later in the programme, clinical teaching builds upon and reinforces this strong scientific foundation.

The learning experiences at MSU revolve around various means of delivery including small group teaching, self-directed and case based learning, bedside teaching, case studies, clinicopathological conference, lectures and seminars. Emphasis is given on clinical communication skills and early clinical contact visit to medical practices, community care facilities, and hospitals. The culmination of these practices will be qualified medical professionals who excel academically as well as display commendable soft skills.

MBBS ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All applicants who enter Matriculation, Foundation or Pre-Medical programmes (except those with a degree qualification in the Arts / Humanities) shall have passed and attained a minimum of the following at the School Certificate level or equivalent:

SPM with minimum 5Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject; OR

GCE O-level minimum 5Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject; OR

UEC with B4 each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics.

All applicants (except those with a degree qualification in the Arts / Humanities) shall have passed and attained a minimum of the following at:

Credit in Bahasa Malaysia is required for entry into government service (for Local Candidates)

English Proficiency (Minimum): Band 4 in MUET (Local Candidates)/Band 6 in IELTS/550 in TOEFL (International Candidates)

Entry requirements to the MBBS programme are determined by the Malaysian Medical Council.
