Work permit for Australia

Recently, Australia has shortened its migration cap from 190,000 to 160,000. Despite the fact, it still has one of the largest immigration programs. The reason being, 70% of Australia is made of a skilled stream. Eligibility criteria 

To apply for this program, you must fulfil the basic requirements of an applicant such as 

  • When you apply for the GSM program, you must be less than 50 years of age 
  • You must score well for the IELTS exam to prove your mastery in the English language 
  • Your skills and qualification must be assessed by a recognized authority 
  • Before you apply, you must get your skills assessed by an Australian assessing authority 
  • You must undergo a health evaluation to ensure that you are in good health 
  • A character certificate to prove that you don’t have any criminal record 

If you surpass this criterion, you are eligible to apply for the GSM program. 

Work permit through Student visa 

The student visa for Australia makes you eligible to work during your degree course. It can either be undergraduate or postgraduate. You can work part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer vacations. But make sure you apply for a work visa only when you are formally enrolled in your course. 

The universities in Australia have a student job search service to help you find the right part-time opportunity. All you need is an updated curriculum vitae. If you have experience in any field, a reference from your previous employer may give you an edge over benefit. Through student visa in Australia, you can work up to 40 hours per fortnight in the academic year and unlimited during the summer holidays. The minimum wage to work in Australia is $15.96 before tax.
